SIMULTANEOUS DISPLAY (/Closer)
//Inkjet print on paper, 21x29,7 cm, 2024//

The collage is inspired by shop windows out of use, covered by posters and messages; by changes of language; by the etymology of the word “symbol” (e.g., “that which is thrown/cast together,” alluding to the classical practice of breaking a piece of ceramic in two and giving one half to the person who would receive a future message and one half to the person who would send it: when the two match together, the receiver is assured that the message is genuine); by the act of flipping coins and by the experience, and mental processes of coming from somewhere else:
The background of the collage is a photo I took of the glass door of a shop, covered with notes, papers, etc from both sides. This is where I inserted a “poster” with a text written by me. While some of the motifs (posters, graffity, stickers) are kept from the original situation, some of them are added later.
